Q&A: Why do Republicans say the war for oil is a good thing?

Question by Danny: Why do Republicans say the war for oil is a good thing?
Ok, call me a nerd; I was watching an old episode of Captain Planet. In the planet alert, they said today’s economy relays on natural resources like oil, and that wars are even fought ever who controls them.

One time I made a joke-poster about Bush’s greed, and one Republican on Facebook gets really nasty with insults telling me “if it’s for the profits on American, then American soldiers should get killed if it means keeping control of oil.”

I have to ask why would anyone say something so sick? I can understand if troops are fighting for freedom; like America did doing World War II, but in wars like now, isn’t it kinda sinful to go to war at the cost of many lives over materialistic things.
I guess I’m looking at this in a personal way. I would never kill anyone, not even for all the money in the world. The only way I’d kill someone is if my life was threated and I had to defend myself.
This question isn’t about Bush or Obama at war. This questions is about anyone going to war for oil or other things, like maybe gold.
No, I guess the world is better off without Saddam, but once we got rid of Saddam, why stay in Iraq.
No, I agree the world is better off without Saddam, but once we got rid of Saddam, why stay in Iraq.

I’ve never heard a Republican say that war for anything is good. I am also astounded that Republicans are called war mongers when most of the major wars that the USA has been in have been when a Democrat sat in office. WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam…….

Why isnt Obama ending them? Where is the outrage???????????

  • feed your head:

It makes the rich richer and kills off the poor so we don’t have to pay for their healthcare.

  • Lib Nemesis:

Ohh. One person said this? Wow, must mean we all think that way lol

Btw, Bush hasn’t been president for quite some time. Why aren’t you out protesting Obama’s wars?

  • Something Fierce:

Because it supports BIG business and the GOP support business over the common man.
They figure that the best was is to support the wealthy and that the money will trickle down to the people. The world has been fighting over oil for a very long time.

If we are going to do it, then we should really do it. Invade and concur a oil producing country like Iran, and then produce the oil via a state run program that excludes the oil companies.

Okay, You have to turn off Captain Planet and look at History and what happened when we went to Iraq. First of all many, many top Democrats not only voted to go there but agreed that Hussein had WMD. Hussein also has taken account of 300K deaths. You don’t agree the world is a better place without him?

We have honestly done a lot of good there. But now that is in Obamas world, you might want to ask him. He is now what should be considered a “war monger”

  • Rush Hates us for our Freedom:

Because Republicans are owned by oil companies.

  • You May Call Me Sir.:

Since you insist NERD, I don’t know anyone who says it’s a “good” thing. The fact is, if the control of oil follow is not kept in check, it would devastate the world wide economy. Which is why it is imperative we continue to fund research and development for alternative green energy. Every 1 dollar at the gas pump gives Iran 1.8 billion dollars.

  • Smart like Kelly Bundy:

Well, you’re a rational human being, and Republicans aren’t. Especially the yahoos that hang out on facebook. They’re morons brainwashed by the very people who are screwing them and they don’t even realize it. War is never a good thing, dependency on oil is not a good thing, yet we are repeatedly force fed the fact that these things are good for us. Kind of like a parent making us take yucky medicine that ends up killing us.

    I like nerds ;)

If the war is for oil, why are we paying so damn much for gas?
