Q&A: Why isn’t the oil cleansing method (ocm) working for me?
Question by <3 :): Why isn’t the oil cleansing method (ocm) working for me?
Before you say “WASHING YOUR FACE WITH OIL?!” please read this, just so you know I’m not crazy, and theres actually a theory behind it
http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/
I’ve been doing this for about 2 weeks, and I’ve been getting more breakouts around my chin and nose. Why is this?
I use grapeseed oil, and even after steaming my face, I can’t get the oil residue off (even with intense wiping!) so I use Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser to remove the excess (since it’s a natural, oil based cleanser, I figured it’s ok).
I follow up with a homemade serum of glycerin, water and a small amount of the grapeseed oil.
What am I doing wrong? Why am I getting MORE breakouts when this method promises LESS?
I actually have dry skin, and I’ve never gotten breakouts until now….

sorry to sound like im giving a dumb answer but:
its because you are rubbing oil on your face!
instead of rubbing oil on your face you should be using an acne cream to get rid of the pimples you have.
and instead of rubbing oil on your face why didnt you just use a face moisturizer? if you to any drugstore or department store if you wanna shell out big bucks, you could find any number of products for dry skin.
u should see a derma
Stop using it and only use your face cleanser for a while. I think you are mixing too many things onto your sensitive face. Let it breathe for a while. I hope this helps. Contact a dermatologist if you have any more questions.
please go to your derma he will know what to do
Maybe the oil method isn’t the right method for your skin type, it could be something in it and its reacting to your face, or its just on for too long. Look up other solutions on http://www.bing.com or http://www.google.com
Hope I helped (:

Stop using the brand. I had breakouts to know you can barley seem them. Buy at the mall Avon face cleanser wipe pads and daily corection lotion.
Then after a few days or so you will be good as new!
I didn’t have to even read that site to realize it’s a load o crap.
Dude, a lot of us have been through that faze, it’s part o being a teen! xD I had greasy skin too which is why I used to get a lot of spots. My mum took me to the doctors, just for some ideas to clear them up, and he gave me a medicine.. I don’t remember the name though, sorry dude, long time ago.
But the whole point that you get spots is coz your have oily skin, SO PUTTING OIL ON AN ALREADY DRY-SKINNED FACE WILL NOT HELP!!
I remember once I tried toothpaste when I was like 13.. Didn’t work.
Just don’t play around with them, leave them, see your doctor.
They’ll go away as you get older, : )) take care!
Oh, and clean your room!
Since you have dry skin, you need a gentle exfoliant to get off the top layer. Then moisturize but NOT with oil. The pores will block & clog if you still have a layer of dead, dry cells underneath. I had my 1st facial with a blueberry, moisturizing exfoliant, then a natural mask & moisturizer. WHAT a difference! My skin didn’t even look dry to me, but it was. Nothing I put “on” could get in & it couldn’t breathe, but I’ve never been prone to breakouts. Oil isn’t good for your face- I believe that’s your problem.
Stop what you’re doing. Washing your face with water is a better option.
I went to a Mary Kay demonstration and they set me up with facial cleansers/moisterizers specific to my skin type. You should try something like that..
It could be a combination of problems..so i give you several possiblities and solutions…
1. It could be that you are exposed to dirt, bactaria or allergians such as dustmites..which may be hard to remove with oil alone..you will need the foaming action from soap (organic non toxic, Dr Brooners is good)..along with scrubbing that a soapy towel produces and also the strains in a wash towel will reach the pores better than a flat surface..organic non toxic soap may help problem followed by a natural moisterizer such as Olive oil that will not clog pores..
As for as allergians, I notice my face itiching when I get from bed..I do beleive its dustmites in my pillows..they are everywhere..one thing to help with them is vacum and steam iron your bed and pillows and wash bedding often..that helped me but dust mites maybe impossible to rid completely from materials..
2.Another possiblity is the cleansers has an ingredient that you may or many not know you are allergic to..make sure you read all ingredients before applying anything..even if it says all natural or organic on the front..I notice many still have parfums in them. Also I noticed that some companies have some products that do and some that dont even though they all say natural/organic on front. You could be allergic to some natural ingredients even..Also pay attention to the ingredients of the products that work and that dont work for you, that way it will be easier to determine ingredients you are allergic to. so its good to always read ingredients..
3.Another possiblity I think alot of people do..is you are not rinsing your pores well enough…I rinse my face with water not by just splashing on the face anymore..this does nothing for pores..it still leaves residue deep in them.. I put my face in sink..or take shower..this method has helped me alot..
I dont have a problem breaking out..not anymore..I use organic soaps like Dr Brooners or others with no chemicals or perfums..I rinse my face now by putting my face in sink and not just splashing or wiping with towel..it make my skin feel much cleaner..then I use natural moisterizer..i heard olive oil is good one..
